The pattern is USB was never meant to power everything from your toaster to your hair dryer. And like Firewire, USB was created jointly by several companies, not just one. Tom would have us think USB was intended to power large external HD's and when it can't, then he can pretend it's the fault of a bad spec. USB is for running lower power peripherals, not powering jet engines.
