For a while in the recent past I had been pretty active in sports photography and never really experienced a problem with the much talked about "shutter lag" thing. As is common in that type of work, one often works with a predetermined point of focus, shutter speed and exposure values so you don't have to allow for the camera to make decisions when you are ready to take the shot. Focusing speed was always my prime issue when spontaneity was a play.
