You really can't use acronis unless you want to get really techie and pull out all the drivers seeing that the new machine is completely different hardware. I used to image between machines, but only if they had the same chipsets. Ideally you want to just load the stuff you really need, reinstall the programs and move the data over you wish to have.
I enjoy trying new programs, if you do, might want to take this oppourtunity to find programs that still fit your needs but might be more updated. I just reinstalled my vista64 box and instead of using nero 7 (which seems to have gotten more and more bloated) I switched to the free imgburn. Very basic program. But great if you are just making ISO's or burning data. http://sourceforge.net/ is a great place to search for free safe programs.
