Actually I think your "non-voting Representative" is doing a better job for you than my voting Representative. (And she has never punched her spouse even when she had a real good reason to do so.) She is always out in front on issues that matter to DC and on the backs of Federal officials who fail to do their jobs.

Eleanor Holmes-Norton is on the job. She happens to not be of
my ideology but she is an effective representative. Too bad she
doesn't have a vote in the House of Representatives. Yes she is
influential and yes I'm glad she's there.

But this is mere legalistic tokenism as the Constitution devolves all
authority over the District of Columbia on the Congress. Home Rule
is a freaking joke.

If you think that the citizens of DC have any say on any issue that
comes before Congress then you need to read up on the "shadow
delegation."

Now that's not exactly a good deal.

I think it's a good idea. What I have a problem with is paying
taxes that my (nonexistent) representatives don't get to vote on.

What the heck is a "shadow Senator" or a "non-voting Representative."
