Well, because what Tom has said boils down to "There was a bug in the Zune, therefore MS is incompetent." Since he does not think that Apple is incompetent, that has to imply that Apple software has no bugs. I do not say that MS is perfect or does no wrong. What I do say is that you can't use a single bug and use it as prima facie evidence of incompetence; but that is exactly what he did (howling with glee, I might add). If that approach is valid, then I can take any Apple bug and use it the same way--as clear evidence that Apple is incompetent. > the MS criticism is still somewhat justified, just misdirected. And I don't have any problem with criticizing MS. He could have said, "I think MS should have found this bug before the Zune was released," and that would be fine. It's these nutty overstatements that make me crazy. (And we should not forget that he began by asserting that MS did this on purpose to sell new Zunes.) ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
