It's a good proxy, but these are Panda's numbers, which could be inflated to sell software or have a non-representitive sample. They could be completely accurate, but we have no way of knowing. As with all developing news stories, there will be errors in the rush to report. I always wait for the follow-up *after* an event to to get the real story, but we can agree that Downadup is a big-ass worm, regardless, and should be taken very seriously. It's a mixed bag: XP is obviously very vulnerable, but Vista seems to be largely unaffected.
