I went out on a call from a woman who was very angry, her computer had begun
misbehaving and making weird noise and when she rebooted it would not boot
any longer. We had already been out to fix a network problem which amounted
to her having kicked a cord loose from the switch under her desk, she had
complained about that charge. We warned her of the charge again to come
out...when I got there she was exasperated and angry. I moved a folder that
had been depressing some keyboard keys and the computer booted fine.
Couple days ago I bought two 1 terabyte drives (WD to those who gave their
two cents, off the final advice of the wholesaler) and brought them home to
back everything I own up. Short version, at one point pulling drives,
putting in new drives, my computer wouldn't boot suddenly. In a panic I
thought was everything gone? Was my motherboard bad? Bad memory, computer
wouldn't post with NO drives installed..what now? Stupid...I had left my
ipod nano plugged in and the system was trying to boot from it. Those two
or three minutes though were a killer :p
