It strikes me as odd that we go to the ends of the earth to get a
perfect picture (HD, Blueray,etc.) and that the sound that goes with it
is an afterthought. Are the designers of this equipment hearing
impaired, or are they just keeping costs down??
When I think about it, the CRT set in my living room has plain speakers
also. So sound quality, it seems, has always been second to picture.

Not to mention video reports created using cell phone cameras. Video rate
is too low to capture moving lips so the reporter's face is pixelated.
