Has anyone seen a good audiophile-grade "mini stereo"?
Sure. The Meridian F-80 has gotten good reviews.
If that's too stratospheric, Tivoli Audio makes the "Music System," which I wouldn't exactly call "audiophile" but like all their Henry Kloss derived products is very nicely executed and costs about 1/3 of the Meridian. Neither of these are going to touch a true audiophile system, they fall onto a category I'd describe as table radios with CD capabilites. I could make some recommendations if you'll email me a budget.
