My best friend has a Tracfone, and she has had a number of problems with loss of service, and I mean a permanent loss of service. If seems as if when she goes out of the area in which her Tracfone was initially activated, she will have lost all connectivity upon her return if she used the phone while away. The "fix" involves havng to get a new SIM card and go through a lot of time with the support people. All her stored phone numbers will have to be replaced. This just happened again after she returned to the Northern Virginia area from Florida, where she used her phone. Support folks finally got a new SIM card to her after having to wait for two or more weeks. Now they are telling her that her phone will not operate where she currently is located, something about "tower incompatibility," never mind that she was using the phone regularly in this same location prior to her Florida trip. Bad customer service and bad phone service as well, at least in her case.
