Thanks to all for their suggestions. I have passed them along and will
report back what works.

Interestingly, after working on their Win98 system for 3 days a few
years ago, I did buy a new WinXP PC for them to replace it, but had to
return it because of their personal reasons (learning a new operating
system, not wanting to throw out a "perfectly good computer", who
knows what?). I wanted to simplify my life and theirs but it was not
to be. But they are my relatives so on it goes.
