I find it very interesting that it is based on Chrome and not Android. I did find it curious that Chrome's features did smell a bit like OS architecture, but with Android out in front I expected Google to run with that. It will be interesting to see Google advancing two distinct OS alternatives, while M$ can't seem to manage even one.

From what I've read (in at least two different articles), Chrome OS uses a Linux kernel.
