Just moved to Amazon S3/ Jungledisk ( 15 cents/ GB/ mo.) which is truly a great software and service. A much better/ more user friendly/ more featured software, web and reporting interface and services (file sharing and networked drives are options), and MUCH faster upload times. Not one glitch yet in 6 months of use on either machine.
I have 4 pocket drives that I rotate offsite. It is highly reliable and avoids the disadvantages of cloud-based backups. The big one being the inability to rapidly restore lost files.
For clients that occupy a lot of space I have implemented backups by putting a NAS box in a location that is distant from the file server and in a well-protected location. Call that a private cloud. Since the files are accessed over a LAB, not a WAN, file recovery can be quick.
If I were to move some backup to the cloud, Amazon S3/ Jungledisk is the best alternative I've seen. Until the WAN gets a lot faster I don't think I will do it.
