You might want to think about installing Thunderbird and importing your OE mail into Thunderbird. If corruption has started within OE you want to get the mails out.
Also you could make a manual copy of your dbx files, they should be in *C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\long string here\Microsoft\Outlook Express *Keep those copies handy for later use, anything you do to the main DBX file now will be safe because you have at the very least partial copies. If you haven't emptied your trash bin, open it and search for a .bak folder I believe is the extension. This is a backup of your OE files. What may have happened is while your original was being compacted, it may have been corrupted, the uncorrupted file may still be in the trash. Also...I think pre OE 6 these databases were .dbx, if you are on OE 6, it is .mbx. All this is from memory, I stay away from MS mail programs myself.
