Sorry that we are not more helpful Gail, but what you have is a big  
mess. When OE failed it rolled you back to the last time a maintenance  
backup was made, which in your case is very long ago. There are 3rd  
party utilities that will try to recover a corrupt mail database or at  
least extract emails from it. I did this once on a Mac. The program  
took several hours. It did extract the emails, but the client was not  
happy with the result. Since then I have been constantly reminding my  
clients who are stuck with M$ email to run maintenance and make  
backups. We have been able to minimize the damage, but I have seen  
plenty of failures like yours. The best we can do is limit the damage  
through maintenance.
