The Hauppauge installer should have installed an app to view the tv signal outside of media center playing. If not the Hauppage website has a download area so you can get the App.
You should be able to download carbonite files any way you want..that's an easy check. If you have the restore DVD/CD for the dell, that will have all the correct drivers. If you do decide to clean house on this machine, give yourself enough time to do it write and not be rushed. The first time can take a little while, if you have someone around that knows how, have them around to help out. This is one of those areas that is much easier on the mac. Personally I think this should be where some of the hardware makers should pick up the ball, build a good solid interface for backing up and restoring their systems, or moving them to new ones. If you own a dell, and want a new system you would be more likely to buy a dell if you knew they offered a slick app to move your stuff over to the new machine.
