I might have an explenation on the AutoConnect behavior:

What is missing here is the "AutoConnect" entry. That means when we load
this file, service->autoconnect will be left on False and hence no
automatic connection on boot up.

I tend to say we should not add some 'workaround' for that. If it is
missing, then that is the correct behavior.
