The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of 
portraiture of the people who have made or who are making British history and 
culture. In recent years the Gallery has attracted around 2 million visits and 
is among London's most popular museums, it reaches and engages these, and 
further UK and global audiences, with its extensive display, exhibition, 
research, learning, outreach, publishing, digital and national programmes.

Conservator: Paintings (Loans & Collections)
Part-time, 32 hours (4 days) per week
Fixed-term, 12 month contract (Maternity Cover)
£24,724.80 per annum (FTE £30,906.00 per annum)

Reporting to the Senior Conservation Manager, the Conservator: Paintings (Loans 
& Collections) is responsible for the conservation and preservation of 
paintings held in the National Portrait Gallery's Collection. Working as part 
of the Paintings Conservations team, we are seeking an experienced and skilled 
Paintings Conservator to provide conservation expertise in support of the 
Gallery's loans, collections and special projects activities, including 
providing advice and support in the delivery of the conservation programme 
related to the Inspiring People project.

The successful candidate will be a strong and effective communicator with 
proven experience in the conservation of easel paintings. They will have 
demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to work 
effectively as part of a team within the National Portrait Gallery's Paintings 
Conservation studio and off-site.
