The Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart (Academy of Art and 
Design Stuttgart, Germany) invites applications for a tenured faculty position 
at the rank of full professor in the Department of Art-related Studies and 
Conser- vation, starting April 1, 2019 as:
Professor of Conservation of Archaeological, Ethnographic and Decorative Arts 
Objects
(Bes.-Gr. W 3).
The successful candidate will represent the conservation of archaeological, 
ethnographic and decorative arts objects across its wide range and object di- 
versity from prehistory to the present. Applicants are expected to have docu- 
mented experience in the theory and practice of object conservation as well as 
competency in teaching, communications and outreach. Substantial in-depth 
knowledge in materials and art technology and their histories are a pre-requi- 
site. The successful candidate will direct the undergraduate and graduate study 
programmes and will contribute to the academic self-governance of the depart- 
ment and institution. The candidate will collaborate in interdisciplinary 
research projects and conferences, conduct BA- and MA-level examinations, and 
guide and supervise bachelor, masters, and doctoral students.
Basic qualifications for employment:
- Academic degree in object conservation or a related field
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in conservation and preservation princi-
ples and practice as well as in art technology
- Work experience within the museum and/or monument preservation sector
- Evidence of excellence in research, such as PhD dissertation or equivalent
research publications, successful extramural grant funding activity, schol-
arly presentation and conference activities, and publications
- Evidence of excellence in teaching
