The Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) coordinates a research
project (ArtGarden) that focuses on composite objects and their specific
problems caused by material interactions. (e.g. Enclosed Gardens, ethnographic
masks, puppets, reliquary...)
For the creation of an online tool to provide advice about care of historical
mixed media objects, we are examining more examples of composite objects, and
more specifically those which present conservation problems that need a closer
investigation.
Hence, we are interested to hear which material interactions you frequently
encounter in your personal work field, that typically cause damage.
Which material-combination(s) is (are) frequently problematic in objects,
according to you?
We would love to include your 'problematic material interactions' in our
research and our decision support tool!
