We are working on a portrait by the artist Arthur K. Murray, and suspect that
the artist used an egg white, or glair coating. Presently, the painting has an
uneven, gray coating in many areas throughout the composition. Has anyone had
success in removing a glair coating by means of enzymes or other system? We
have not taken a cross section, but the coating is consistent with the
fluorescence of a glair sample. We would be most grateful for any input.
