The programs are aimed mostly but not only at two types of students. The ones who are looking into the possibility to start and become book conservators, and those who, because of their jobs/interests are requiring better knowledge and insight into the care of books and bound material within libraries, archives or museums. For those planning to become conservators these weeks will gain a good understanding of what conservation of books and library/archive material is that will help for the further education. For those already dealing with library and archive environments will enhance their skills and knowledge in analysing the nature of bound material, understanding the state of conservation, and best practices in handling, storage and conservation of library and archival materials. Both and any other professionals interested in joining the courses to gain knowledge in book-binding will get the unique chance to work and ‘feel’ materials like leather, parchment and paper in a unique and immersive way. Nowhere else similar workshops will offer the opportunity of such full immersion within not only a conservation/restoration studio but at the same time into an historical library with all the beauty and issues related to it. All of this with the support and guide by well recognised international conservation professionals that will share their working experience. Students looking for a complete introduction to the field of book restoration should consider taking also the program D, PAPER DOCUMENTS CONSERVATION and PAPER CONSERVATION.
