Manager Collection Care Practice Te Papa An exciting opportunity to join Te Papa as the Manager Collection Care Practice. This position is responsible for leading, managing, motivating and developing a dedicated Collection Care team. It supports the wellbeing of Te Papa’s collections and is responsible for managing collection practice activities and embedding forward looking practice changes. The position takes a long-term view of practice by testing methodologies, prototyping and experimenting with new ideas and ways of working. The Manager Collection Care Practice is a champion for practice improvement and analysing change impacts to ensure the team operates and delivers outcomes in the most effective and resource efficient ways that also safeguard Te Papa’s collections. The positon is underpinned by the concept of Mana Taonga and supports the practice of tikanga Māori to ensure the cultural wellbeing of Te Papa’s collections. Reporting to the Head of Collection Services, this position sits within the Collections and Research Directorate, home to our core museological capabilities that collect, curate, conserve and protect Taonga. The successful applicant will: * Manage recruitment, coaching and development to grow existing talent to ensure a high performing team * Build a strong, close knit team that are champions for interdisciplinary ways of working, and exploring and testing new work practices * Have a strong commitment to operating within a bicultural organisation * Implement, lead and advocate the practices set out in our new Ngā Tikanga Whakahaere Kohinga Taonga a Te Papa | Collection Care and Practice Framework * Develop and deliver to a prioritised operational collection care resource programme to support Te Papa’s operations To be successful in the role, you’ll bring: * At least five-seven years’ experience managing a team, including planning, prioritising, achieving objectives and delivering on outcomes and strategy * Experience working in a museum, gallery, library and/or archives environment is desirable * Highly effective planning, communication, negotiation and influencing skills * Courage and experience to be creative, take calculated risks, and prototype to bring about increases in work productivity and to support effective work practices This is an opportunity to be part of a great team that does amazing work that supports the wellbeing of Te Papa’s collections.
