That doesn't matter. epel5 caters to redhat and the redhat mysql is
27. This makes the uid/gid conflict.

This is because we changed it. If we hadn't then we could have raised
this issue upstream earlier as the same conflict occurs between epel4
and redhat.
Again this may be be design or oversight. Unless we ask (or dig in and
research) we won't know why.
Again I ask you (and it is a very good questions!), what problems are
you experiencing with the two uid/gid's being the same?
