sorry I won't be able to insert this patch.
It was just perfect but we do not maintain this package "BackupPC", we just
pull it from uptream epel repo.
I can even not update it thru the smeserver-BackupPC contribs as this file is
updated through BackuPC interface.
updated wiki with a workaround :

I guess it will be sufficient regarding the fact that this contribs is not plug
and play and need a lot of configuration with or without this little thing to
do:
I have provided this fast and dirty command in the wiki :
cp /etc/BackupPC/config.pl /etc/BackupPC/config.pl.orig
cat /etc/BackupPC/config.pl.orig|sed 's/ -E -N -d 1/ -E -d 1
/g'>/etc/BackupPC/config.pl
even upstream (Fedora) they only document it in their wiki.
