I have the same problem JPP, an error 404 whatever the user i use. For example
:http://sme8dev4/stephane
my db config
[root@sme8dev4 ~]# config show UserPublicWeb
UserPublicWeb=service
PublicAccess=local
php=enabled
status=enabled
* I imagine the problems comes from apache since i have this error in log
[root@sme8dev4 ~]# less /var/log/httpd/error_log
[Mon Nov 25 15:42:29 2013] [error] [client 192.168.12.25] File does not exist:
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/stephane
if i remember well the html path for user web directory is :
/home/e-smith/files/users/stephane/home/public_html/
* The problem is for all existent users before the contrib installation and
even for a new user i installed after.

The signal-event user-webspace-force-existings is it a mandatory or do you want
to do something in the contrib to avoid to launch it ?
Same question for a new user, do we document that the web server needs to be
restarted or do you want to do somethings ?
