Understood, all I can say is that I've just tried again with djbdns.x86_64
1.05-10.el6.sme and dehydrated -c consistently fails with the curl 6 error and
all the digs fail with connection time out *except* the k.pconline.com.cn one
which always suceeds. This is with/without sv t dnscache and a 30 second wait
between lookups.
Downgrade to -8 djbdns and everything consistently works again with/without the
sv t dnscache. The sv t dnscache and wait (the wait is essential) is doing
something as the dig lookups take a few tens to hundreds of ms to return
succesfully after it but subsequent lookups take 0 ms.

Ha Ha, "dig" more. B-)
