More modem oddness:
I tried to make a call after doing the previous tests and found the Mac's
modem still blasting a carrier on the phone line, over the dialtone. I
also got "Sorry, the modem is busy", when trying to run kppp again.
A workaround:
add
/bin/sleep 2;/bin/setserial /dev/modem
in the "after disconnect" options of kppp
You'll need to add yourself to the group uucp and change the permissions
on your modem device (/dev/ttyS0 in my case) to g+w
chmod g+w /dev/ttyS0
This isn't too big of a deal, as you'd need write permissions anyway to
use minicom etc., as a normal user.
