Interesting. Are these purchased or self-burned images? Both Mandrake
PPC and YDL use a hybrid HFS/ISO9660 CD image, and depending on what
software and how you do the burn, you can lose this configuration and end
up with one or the other - not both.
HFS is need to make the CD bootable, while ISO9660 is used for the
remainder of the install.
Are you able to switch to VT2 (Command(Apple)-Control-F2)?
Do a:
ls -l /tmp/image/Mandrake/RPMS1
and make sure you can see all the RPM packages
You might also check on VT4 (Command-Control-F4) for any unusual kernel
messages.
I've seen several postings on the YDL list describing similar scenarios,
and it may just be some basic incompatibility with the DVD drive and some
CDR's.
Options:
If you have another machine, do a net install from the CD on that machine.
If you have a version of Linux on the machine already, and you have drive
space, copy the CD1 files to a partition or directory on the hard drive
(ext2). (You could also do this with the rescue image, if you don't
already have Linux on the machine - if you choose to go this route holler
and I'll give you steps).
