Unfortunatly when the system goes "bad" I cannot move the mouse nor switch
over to other vtys ... the only thing that seems to me to mean that the
"hardware" is ok (I come from the PC world) is that the numlock key puts the
LED on and off. Other that that the system just sits there.

This bothers me a little. I don't believe the original ISO image was
Joliet. These screens were all at the point where the install stops?
I would think VT3 at the point you mention would be showing information
referencing the RPM's, as dependencies are reviewed and the package
install initiates.
