This is normal.  Stage1 does not do any detection, as by design it it
targeted to fit on a floppy, so its fairly limited.  Stage 2 tries to
detect the hardware, but is also a much larger program.

Shouldn't make any difference CD or net, but I'll check it out.  I'm
pretty sure I'm using beyond partition 12 on the iMac.

Command-Ctl-FX doesn't get you to the VT's?
