Hi stew
Well installed to new kernel and no change really. The pmud demon still
wouldn't start on boot, but it would from the Cli. I could then get the
bat monitor up, and could get it to sleep.
On waking though it goes wrong. The screen comes back up and cursor
move, but thats it, it just hangs there. For a split second when moving
cursor over icon, it highlighted, but that was it, it still just hung there.
One thing i noticed about benh kernel, its gives you the options in
energy control panel to show a bat monitor in taskbar, as well as using
some of the other options that are not available in mandrake one.

I've read through though the pmud man pages and can't really find an
answer. Pahaps its just my machine. Where is the config file for pmud?i
ask because i've found a number of files relating to pmud.

At the weekend i'm expecting a new Lacie pocket firewire hd (present
from a work buddy), so i will be able to back up(quick & easy) and then
format and do a clean install. I will then be able to commit the drive
to mandrake and use the firewire drive for the mac side of things. I may
then put some time to compiling a kernel for this ibook. I'm willing to
test anything you come up with though, and any help on resolving this
for me would be very welcome. I'm still not finished yet though, so i'll
let you know of any progress.
