With the Debian installer you can do something like this: Create a 50 MB HFS partion (not HFS+!). Download the installer (yaboot, a kernel and a ramdisk) and put it on the partion. Put fake Finder, System and MacOS ROM files on the disk so MacOS thinks it's a real system folder. Select the partion in Startup Disk, boot from it and install Debian from a Debian mirror!
Wouldn't this be a great way to install cooker without having to burn a CD all the time? I've tried this several times with Mandrake-cooker but it doesn't work. All the different kernels panic after a few lines... If you use the install cd's and select a cooker mirror for installing that doesn't work either cause the cd has a kernel that hasn't got the corresponding modules in cooker. //ernie
