I spent a lot of time with quotas about the 8.0 timeframe, as it wouldn't build for anything and I was finally able to get it working. As I recall though, things did not work exactly as the docs said. I don't remember now if I actually did any testing on the 8.2 version to see if it was still working. PPC doesn't go through any QA other than what you folks provide in testing cooker, and what I test myself. > Any guesses or even better: the one and only working solution ;-)? > > > * secondly > did anyone successfuly set up his ppc (or xi86 box??) as an wireless accesspoint >(LAN with file/printersharing...) using common available (PCMCIA-) adapters - if so, >which (recommended) NIC proved to work properly? > > There are a lot of wireless cards that work in Linux, and they should also work in PPC. I use a an old Compaq (prism based) 2-card setup here between my server and laptp, and it works fine, but it's a bit slow compared to what you can get today. Your best source is to visit: http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/Wireless.html and read up a bit. Yu can also peruse the wireless drivers we ship in your kernel module tree: [stew@powerbook-cooker stew]$ ls /lib/modules/2.4.18-6.1mdk/kernel/drivers/net/wireless airo.o.gz airport.o.gz orinoco.o.gz orinoco_plx.o.gz airo_cs.o.gz hermes.o.gz orinoco_cs.o.gz Stew Benedict -- MandrakeSoft PPC FAQ: http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ppcFAQ.php3 IRC: irc.openproject.net #cooker-ppc
