it would seem some fonts work and some do not. the fonts from windows se
with TTF extensions do not work. the ones with ttf extensions do work.
there is obviously some difference in the format. the ones i downloaded
from microsoft's website do not work. all you need is to have one of
these fonts in the fonts.dir file and when xfs start is executed,
followed by xfs status, this is the message: xfs dead but subsys locked.
the fonts i downloaded from hp's web site do work. however redhat's
version of xfs works with both types. one that does not work is ARIAL.TTF
