i saw a similar problem with 6.1: there was an eterm icon on the gnome
desktop at the top right corner -- highly visible -- but there is no
eterm program.

(enlightenment complained at me that i needed to fix my $PATH, but it
was too stupid to know the real cause of the problem.  windows tries
to blame you after you get a BSOD and then restart it too, come to
think of it.)

i concluded that mandrake _really_ wanted me to use kde, so i switched
over to that.

the terminal program is crucial to us geeks.  if something so obvious
as a desktop icon is broken, other parts of the software must be
broken too.
