Will that actually retrieve and install all new packages in addition to
updating the depslist et. al?

I noticed that it uses something called autoirpm.update. Perhaps that's
what does the actual package updating? I don't seem to have one on my
system. What package can I find it in?

This last kind of question seems to come up quite often. I am wondering
if there is a tool needed to allow people to search RPMs at Mandrake for
a file. Of course searching RPMs would be a good reason to buy the CD,
which is good for Mandrake, I agree. But it does lack updates. A tool
which you can ask "where is ________" and it goes to your install media
(CD, ftp, http, etc.) searches (requests a search in the case of remote
media) and gives you the most up to date RPM needed to get that file.
