I thought I did that...maybe not.  Besides, I have to do a complete
reinstall regardless because the the XFree86 4.0 install completely bombed
out.  Fortunately, a HD based install goes pretty quickly.

Crazy as it sounds, enable the 'LINEAR' option. You know, the one that
says it is for "Some SCSI Drives"
This is what it took to get my 20GB ATA-66 drive to boot, even just
running under 7.0
