yes....i think you solution would be best.  i'll actually "truncate" or "cut"
the password down too 8 characters instead of 9 (yea yea....sort of had to
atleast give you some idea on how many characters i'm entering.

k...as long as there's a fix i guess i'll be all right..btw: i've been useing
the same password for roughly 2 years now....(another - yea yea...but somemore
background info helps troubleshoot and verify).  it is possible that i actually
created the account in linux (licq) which accepted the >8 digit password, and
the mdk7.1-2 iso, it finally caught up with the =<8 character/digit requirement!
