Step 1: Remember, this is a *BETA* test (i stress the word BETA).

Step 2: Realize that nowhere, nor at any time, did the Mandrake Team state
that they would notify of updates to the beta.

Step 3: Welcome to the bleeding edge bay-bee!!

Step 4: Realize that updates of this magnitude have take place at least once
per week since the beta process started.

Step 5: That is the whole point of a beta test, to find bugs, and *fix* them,
hence new and updated packages.

Step 6: Be happy this is not a Redhat Beta, where a broken package gets
released in the beta, and the only time you get a chance to fix it, is if you
make your own updated package, *or* wait for the final release (ie, RH only
releases 1 snapshot, and no subsequent updates, making step 5 above non
existent)

Step 7: Don't complain when Beta Software breaks something on your system,
after all, it is BETA.

Step 8: If you do not want to download the updates, the install a snapshot,
and report bugs from there. But don't get offended when someone tells you that
a reported bug, has been fixed in an updated package.

Step 9: If you want to download the updates, do so, again, at your
peril/leasure (whatever suits you), and report bugs as you go.

Step 10: Go back to Step 1.

just my 2c.

I don't like hearing complaints, when the process here has been quite straight
forward since day 1.
