------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-10 01:49 ------- Sorry but you installation menu is not really logical: First select the language, than <advanced> where you choose an other language, not because you need it but because you use a keyboard in relation with that language, Type <next>, accept the license agreement, it is normal, <next> you select the mouse, <next> you choose between install or upgrade, AND THERE (miracle) A PREVIOUS BUTTON appears, so <previous> and you can choose your keyboard. etc ... If you find this logical, I don't want to see you first computer science teatcher. A logical approach would be: select the language, present the license agreement and the go directly to a control panel like your summary with pre-selected choices and the opportunity to change what you want. For the rest, MDK is still a great distribution. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: RESOLVED creation_date: description: This has always bugged me a bit with the install process (in previous versions, too). I use Linux in English, but on a French laptop. Unless I (as an uninitiated user) know beforehand that I need to also choose French (or, in fact, any second language), I can't choose a French keyboard during the install process. Since the installer allows *any* keyboard layout to be chosen, as long as more than one language was picked (very nice option!), why not have a keyboard selection as a part of all installs? At the very least, it would serve to confirm a user's configuration and allow them a chance to tweak if needed. For example, "US keyboard (international)" is a very useful choice -- but it isn't language dependant. Yet unless I've already chosen another language, I don't have that choice during the install. Always having a keyboard layout confirmation step as a part of the localization process seems natural. And placing it before the "License" step would further bind it with the language selection.
