Adding things up: To install from CD start with the mem=512M option. After installation (using preferably the enterprise kernel) boot again with the mem=512M option and remove the vga=788 option in the lilo.conf. Reboot and everything works fine. Nicolas: The fact that I didn't notice the problem after installation in the first place is probably due to the text only installation. Presumably this type of installation doesn't set the vga=788 in lilo.conf??? This is a showstopper for the installation! Tried on 2 setups: P4 2.5 with ati 9700 Asus p4pe and AMD 2000+ with nvidia ti4600 Asus a7v8x. Both motherboards (after previous failure) flashed with the newest (beta) Bios -> Same problem. Same setup with 512 MB works just fine. CU PacMan
