------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-20 11:23 -------
Devices are dynamicaly created by devfs when palm is detected by the kernel (ie
when hotsync is pressed). Permissions are modified accordingly to console
privilege (ie user physically logged on the system). There is absolutely no need
to use mknod nor chmod..
If you got pilot-xfer to list your palm content, you just need to configure
gnome-pilot accordingly and evolution should sync with your palm (you'll have to
add gpilotd to your session programs, so it get started when you log in..

description:
With Mandrake 8.2 I could synchronize a Handspring visorPrro with Evolution, and it
was seen by USBVIEW. Now, I cannot synchronize the pilot and, the pilot is not seen
by USBVIEW. When I try to use USBVIEW to verify the connection, I receive the
following error
Can not (sic) open the file /proc/bus/usb/devices.
Verify taht you have USB compiled into your kernel, have the USB Core modules loaded,
and have the usbdevfs filesystem mounted.
I am using a USB keyboard and mouse, and both work well.
the output of /proc/bus/usb/devices is:
