David, instead of just adding a comment, vote for this silly bug, so it will be
confirmed. We are more likely to get action if it gets votes.

I'm more into Java than Perl, but I may try looking at their code to see if I
can make it work. Since I'm seriously a newbie with Perl, it will be a long
wait if I'm the one who fixes it in my spare time.

I did figure out that it was System Commander that change my partition type from
NTFS to IFS. Evidently all Windows tools know how to deal with this, and
Diskdrake should probably understand it as well.

description:
When installing RC1, and after completing the installation, diskdrake thought that
/dev/hda1 was
"Hidden IFS (e.g. HPFS)", and generated a fstab that would not allow the partition to
be
mounted. By selecting NTFS in the fstab, the partition would mount and work properly.

There was some discussion about NTFS being detected as HPFS before on the cooker list.

This appaears to be neither detecting as NTFS or HPFS, but as some variant of HPFS.
Since
Windows XP generated the partition in question, this may be an issue for many first
time users.
