I think what Buchan was suggesting (and I'd like this too) is to be able 
to type something like this:

    urpmi --source nameofbinarypackage

URPMI would the chase after the corresponding source file, then hunt 
down its dependencies, then install them all.

A --build option would be nice as well; if the SRPM is a later version 
than the corresponding RPM(s) it and all dependencies (for it and any 
dependent RPM(s) which became required by the new version, and recurse) 
are fetched, installed and rebuilt, and the resulting RPMs installed.

If you build this, you can be sure that someone will invent a 
rebuild-everything-1mdk.i586.rpm and run in Gentoo mode. (-:
