Yes this is mainly a job for marketing/commercial people. But it is a filter. I think that it is sometimes useful to have this contact. Don't forget that Libre Software allows to reduce the distance between the techie and the user. A manager in computer science need to make some development now and then. If he does not, after few years, he is unable to understand what people do.
