Here is another Mandrake 9.1 thinkpad page:
http://www.richard.neill.hemscott.net/a22p-mdk9-1.html

We already have a tp4utils package because of this page. Also, the
thinkpad device drivers went into the kernel just after 9.1 release, and
are in 0.18mdk update (which I am sure most people missed, including our
T40 user).

I have only ever enabled acpi *after* installation, and it has always
installed acpid and done the right things with lilo. A bigger problem is
that by default drakboot was setting acpi on if it was off (haven't
tested on cooker recently, so haven't filed a bug).

I was not sure if he was referring to volumes, or volume groups? Ahhh,
it seems we can't specify -n option to lvcreate via diskdrake yet?

Would be nice. If it is the synaptic driver, I think people have already
asked. Austin, your laptop has one of these?

Maybe we need to file a bug on it, otherwise it will get forgotten ...

It very much looked like he started off wanting to prove how much worse
Mandrake was than his beloved SuSE (whose rescue disk he keeps using all
the time ...).

Well, as far as I can see, his only valid complaint is the LVM stuff
(volume name, not starting LVM on the rescue disk). Also, note that the
T40 is about the newest laptop available, AFAIK it was released *after*
Mandrake 9.1. All other thinkpad's I have heard of do very well, most
users I have encountered had no problems enabling acpi, all NTFS resizes
I have done worked fine. Most users probably also miss the
thinkpad-specific features in contrib, such as tpb, and in cooker they
will probably miss tpctl and tp4utils.

There is though a remaining irritating problem with Toshiba laptops
relating to keyboard repeat. I know someone running 9.1 on one of those,
but he hasn't answered my mail about it ...

Buchan
