I think i wasn't clear enough (english is not my mother language) :

1 - when you accept to download the latest kernel you need to download
150+Mo.
2 - then, since you have already accepted to install it (if not, you
would not have downloaded it ...) the new kernel should be installed
whithout being prompted.
3 - then a pop-up box should aske you if you want to use this new kernel
as a default for next reboot, or keep the old one, and choose in your
booting loader this one for tests only ... (whith the ongoing warnings
about non-present modules like NVIDIA's ...)
4 - you should be asked to reboot now or doing it when you judge it
necessary (but in that case what is the point of downloading a new
kernel ...)

I don't mean replacing completely the old one, but having both and being
able to boot on one or another.
