I agree that some functions are pretty hairy and take quite some time! But the
few seconds you may loose every once in a while are minor problems when you
enjoy greater speed and flexibility with many other common commands.

I think it's really worth enabling it for the basics like : 
cd, man, service, urpm*, mount/umount, kill, configure, make, cvs...
As well as filtering extensions for particular programs.
(xpdf TAB listing only .pdf, and so on.)

Maybe we could just create a minor set of well-tested mdk completions and
package it? Or offer it as a option according to the installation profile? Make
it easy to deactivate/reactivate? There will always be issues... but this could
definetely set the mdk cli apart.

Can you put the bash-completion package on the first cd and install it by default?
It makes the command line so much more friendly to beginners and also gives
power-users greater speed and flexibility. It makes such a difference!
