Ok, I think it's fixed. I had a look around and the acpi mailing list and
booting works with pci=noacpi. ACPI works (shows battery status etc....), just
need to try swsusp.
This is 2.4.22-8mdk. I'm putting this bug as fixed but it would be great if
someone could just answer these two quanstions:
-where is the laptop battery icon in kde????
-how do you display the bootslpash theme on an kernel you just installed???

description:
When I boot a system with acpi=on, the system hangs during the boot sequence on
"checking for new hardware". The computer is a Toshiba Satellite 5200-711.
If I skip Harddrake during the boot sequence, the system hangs after i log in.
